As said, there are a lot people who occupy themself with developing new software for the Dreambox. Every programmer has his own preferences and that will retrieve in the products which they deliver. This way you find images where all kinds of modifications have been introduced into Enigma, instead of providing them as loose software (Plugin).

I am no proponent of that type of treatment. Take a simple example: in a description of a DBF (DBF stands for Dreambox Beginner Forum) was written the next text: The plugin menu have been now moved. You can call it now no longer with blue button but with the yellow one.

If I read something like that, then I think at myself: why in gods name?

What is wrong with that blue button?

That people shows initiative and tries to improve a product, I appreciate. But keep you to the existing protocol. When you throw those protocols overboard throw and give it an own interpretation, purely and only with the intention for being differently that is WRONG. You create only misfiring!!!

I am, that should be clear, a proponent of changes and/or additives within the existing conventies. That means in my opinion also that let it in tact and add your software in the form of plugins is better in the existing enigma. For that reason I am also a supporter of the Ronaldd images. He provides Plugins, no a rebuilt enigma.
