Demuxing with PROJECTX.JAR (known as DS.JAR, from Matthias Müller, dvb.matt)

Why do I take PROJECTX.JAR?
There is no possibility to demux a recording directly in the Dreambox. Disturbances could happen through atmospheric distortion or external influences like a DECT telephone. PROJECTX.JAR has at this time the best "repair" possibility. The tool analyses the data and repairs timestamps in the datastreams. If not done it could well happen that Audio and video are not synchrone anymore when converting to DVD. PROJECTX.JAR repairs these problems quite well!

With the creation of a VCD or SVCD this is less important and could lead to very satisfactory results.

In order to remove unnecessary dataload and to separate audio from video I use PROJECTX.JAR. The audiodata will be corrected uring a second pass through in such way that both Audio and Video have show same length and problems with synchronised video with audio is seldom a problem.

Download the compiled version from the downloadsection (thanx to pli), the last not compiled version is here.

Explanation about compiling a new version is here.

Start PROJECTX.JAR with the application JAVAW. Herefore you need the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) e.g. version 1.4.2 (look our downloadsection) from SUN.

Download the last version here!

Doubleclick on PROJECTX.JAR to start the programm.

Put the recording as TS-file in the window and create a new collection with the Button [+<]. Alternatively you can load directlay the file in the window by pressing the right mousebutton twice.

Use the following settings:

If your settings are correct, you can start the "demuxing".
Press Go in het Main-menu!
Due to the filesize and your PC configuration it can take up till 45 minutes.

After the demuxing part, information is available concerning the recording.

Here it handles a recording with a resolution from 704x576

Subtitles: Dreambox Subtitle Uploader together with the Subtitler plugin Drtic!

Now you can watch movies with subtitles in your own language if you use the Subtitler plugin from "Drtic" and the Dreambox Subtitle Uploader from "TCDD".

Probably now you think: How do I do that?

- Download Drtic's Subtitler Plugin via the downloadsection
- FTP the plugin to /var/tmp
- Install the Subtitler Plugin:
- Open a "Telnet" session and type:
- cd /tmp
- tar xvzf subtitler.tar.gz
- Now you can start the plugin from the Plugin Menu [Drtic - Dreambox Titulkovac]

Download TCDD's DreamSub from the downloadsection and install it.

Start the programm and go to: File - Options to fill in your Dreambox settings, e.g.:

Download the wanted SRT subtitles file from the internet, or directly via the downloadmenu

After downloading and unzipping this file, you select it by using thebuild-in explorer. Depending on the options you selected this tool will unzip it for you.

This programm converts a .srt subtitling file to a .dtc file which the plugin uses and uploads the new .dtc file to your Dreambox.

Fill in the correct Frame Rate, subtitles from Region 1 DVD's uses 23.976 Frames per Second, Region 2 DVD's use 25.000 Frames per Second. European subtitles are mostly from a Region 2 DVD, when they are the original subtitles.

The programm opens in the left screen a .srt file and converts it to a .sub format in the screen on the right. The .dtc en .sub files will be loaded directly to the right screen. Save this new file. This tool checks if there is the line '[JRT1....', (....= total number of subtitle lins in the .sub file.) if not then this line will be added. Copy with "FTP to Dreambox" the file to your Dreambox to /var/tit/drtic.dtc.

Now the plugin can be started and the selected subtitling appears on your screen.

This .dtc file contains only the subtitles from 1 movie, so you must convert and upload the wanted subtitling file for each movie you want to see with the subtitles in your own language. Otherwise you'll see the wrong subtitles in your movie!

The menu:

OK: start/stop subtitling
Lame: stop plugin
Pijl links: scroll back
Pijl rechts: scroll forward
Pijl boven: scroll 10 lines forward
Pijl onder: scroll 10 lines back
Volume Plus: in-/decrease texthight
Volume Min: in-/decrease lightintensity
'Yellow button': change the subtitling color (white, blue, green, yellow)
Mute: yes/no outline background
0-9: correct subtitling, e.g. if the movie started 40 minutes ago: 04000 = 0 hour 40 min 00 sec

With this tool you can view which movies you allready have recorded.

This is possible to view the Recordings.epl file, via File - View Rec. Movies.
